In 1995 Mini Phillips establish her own fashion design business in Lagos Nigeria and in 5 years Mimi Phillips operating under the label Mimi Phillips Couture was turning over 350 designs a year and selling an average of 240 dresses a week through its outlets in Lagos and Calabar
As the Fashion business took off, Mimi Phillips couture began building designs from a wide range of conventional and non conventional materials.
Mimi Phillips couture design for many many high profile celebrities, social identities and personalities ranging from first ladies of the federation, Commissioners, legislators, Festival maidens (Kings and Queens) in Yakurr local Government Area of Cross River State (LEBOKU FESTIVAL) the Calabar Christmas carnival (MASTER BLASTER band for 3 years running) Rhapsody of realities carnival float, Miss Niger/Delta beauty peageant 2010, Miss Calabar carnival peageant 2008, And conceptual productions that brought about the winner of the Miss Niger/Delta beauty pageant in the person of (Miss Faith Laifah)
